Ze-gen has received approval from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection to install and operate a proof of concept facility
in New Bedford, MA.

Boston, MA – January 3, 2007– The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection’s Solid Waste and Air Departments have issued conditional permits to Ze-gen for the construction of a waste gasification demonstration facility that will operate for up to one year. Ze-gen first began to apply for Department of Environmental Protection permitting in March of 2006.

Construction of the facility is to commence immediately, and Ze-gen anticipates the facility to be operational and generating test data by late spring of 2007. In one year’s operating time Ze-gen will prove its zero-emissions waste gasification technology and optimize the facility’s operating conditions. The demonstration facility is designed to process up to 500 tons of construction and demolition waste per month, producing synthetic natural gas of high enough quality to generate significant quantities of renewable energy.
